A woman of great faith in the Living God. Throughout her life she lived by faith and trusting in Him.

Susan Easow(Essy), 58
(Ex- headmistress,
Sunday school STECI, Nanthancode)
A humble teacher, who taught God's love and salvation through songs, lessons and bible verses. Even in the midst of the obstacles she faced, she was active in all the church activities and set a good example to all of us. Her love and desire to do God's work with her gifted talents is praiseworthy. Every child of our Sunday school was very precious to her, so was she to them.
We thank and praise God for her blessed life.
We shall meet again on that beautiful shore !

Jeny, Secretary Youths Union STECI Nanthencode:
Susan aunty was my Sunday school teacher. She used to put a lot of effort in teaching each one of us. Teaching us songs, making us learn Bible verses. After our class she used to pray for every student. Every Sunday school child was precious in her eyes. Every testimony she has said in the church had a lesson for all of us.
She was our choir leader too. Motivating us to take part in every church program. She used to come for practice after work diligently, inspiring us to work hard.
I praise God for her wonderful life. You will always live in our memories. Rest in peace.

Ninsi Mary Mathew, Delhi, Family Member :
My aunt and Sunday school teacher! Songs have a way of remaining in your memory and they just pop up into your memory even after many years. I owe it to Essyammama for teaching me those lovely songs rooted in the Word - laying a foundation for a lifetime and for the generation to come! Week after week she would come with songs that would touch my heart - songs old and new, taught faithfully to a small bunch of kids. When three of us kids started talking too much during the sermon time she gave us small pocket diaries to make note of the verses quoted during sermon which started off in me the habit of maintaining a diary to take notes while listening to a sermon. In many little ways she has influenced my eventual walk with the Lord.
Thanking God for her life! Meet you on the other shore Essy ammama..

Susan ammama was a God fearing woman and lovely at heart. She was a person I would always see at Nanthencode church and my heart would rejoice. A dedicated and committed person to the Lord who has influenced many children to the Lord. May we continue the legacy.

Elizabeth Mathew Sheeba, Family member:
Essymama was a woman I admired most in our family. She was a loving daughter and sister, a loyal wife and mother, great daughter in law,a responsible professional at work, efficient in her day to day affairs, always smiling and ready to help anyone at anytime,a child of God who always kept her strong relationship with her creator who did all she could for her church and never questioned God for the difficult situations she went through. Her faith in God was unbelievable to me. I have never seen her with a grumbling face or low attitude or angry at anyone. Her down to earth character is what I have in my memories. On 7 th Aug I visited Thirumala house to see our dear kunjammama(mavi) where I expected to meet her also being Sunday. But she was not there at that time. I called her after that and spoke to her almost an hour and promised to meet each other on my next visit. But God has other plans. Essymama will live fresh in my mind always with her beautiful smile ,as a great warrior who fought the battle well and has gone to rest with our Lord. 🙏🙏🙏

"Susan has fought the good fight, has finished the race, has kept the faith. Now there is in store for her the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to her on that day--and not only to her, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."
Deepest condolences on the untimely demise of my beloved friend Susan. May our Good Lord comfort her mol, mummy, Philip sir, and her brothers and all loved ones with His peace that surpasses all understanding
Luke 20:36
"Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection."
She was an angel on earth..
My childhood Sunday school friend, we learnt together, played together, sang together and yes! prayed together..
We were not constantly in touch but whenever we called each other we talked for long.. about work, health, family and above all about the Lord's guidance in tough times.
So, dearest Susan, I thank you. I salute you for your brilliant mind, for your outstanding career, for your passion for singing and commitment to your duties, for your nurturing of others, for your generosity, for your moral and spiritual leadership, for your patience and understanding, for your deep devotion to your family and for your uncritical acceptance and love.
Susan, Adieu. my angel friend.. you'll be greatly missed till we meet on the beautiful shore...

I always used to admire Susan aunty, who was such a God fearing and a prayerful person and one who used to make the church choir sound so beautiful . Aunty taught us numerous stories , songs , Bible verses which always remain close to our hearts. She was a living testimony of God .

Abel Philip, Former SS Student :
Essy aunty has always been an inspiration. My father was the vicar of the STECI Nanthancode Parish for six years and all these years she was our Sunday school headmistress and personally my spiritual mentor. She regularly taught us new songs and made sure that we read the Bible and prayed in turns during the common session. Her enthusiasm and zeal for the Lord had always impressed me. In the middle of all her official engagements she used to take time off to come to church and train us kids for the upcoming Sunday school competitions and also accompanied us to the competition. Her presence itself was an encouragement. I personally do remember her care towards me especially when my mother was under treatment. She used to come to the parsonage to teach me bible verses and songs for the competitions and during her lunch break at office she will check on me, whether I have studied the Bible verses. She was a real gem. Once after the Bible verse competition I was so sad and discouraged that I didn’t get a prize. That day Essy aunty came to me and said the Lord have recognised what I have done, a worldly recognition is not necessary. And that was an eye opener for a seventh standard kid. I am sure that she had left similar marks in the life of each Sunday school student in the STECI Nanthancode parish. All thanks and praise to God for her wonderful life, hope to meet her in the Heavenly abode.
May the good Lord comfort her family and dear ones.

Merryl Sara Johnson, STECI Nanthencode :
Susan Aunty was my first guide to God and faith. I will always remember the classes she took for me where she spoke faithfully of God, love, peace. Some classes of Susan Aunty is still etched in my heart. Some verses Susan Aunty made me memorise when I was just a child, are the verses I still think of during difficult times. Susan Aunty never missed to wish me for my birthday. Every year she would send me a verse along with my birthday wish too, which I held close to my heart for the entire year.
The amazing voice of Susan Aunty in the church choir, and her trainings are so close to my heart, I will always remember Susan Aunty's voice and the beautiful songs..
Will always miss you Aunty.. You were a guide, a teacher, and a friend in need to me. Thank you for everything.

Shally Kochamma, Wayanad :

Essymama was a soft spoken person. She was noble, humble, brave, and the beholder of a radiant and beaming face. Throughout her life, she had to go through unimaginable troubles but she never showed it to anyone and covered the sorrows of her life with a smile. She rose above all her difficulties with her faith in Christ Jesus. She was hopeful for a better tomorrow for her family and never lost her faith and trust in God. She truly led a noteworthy and a remarkable Chrsitian life. She has indeed fought the good fight, she has finished the race and has kept the faith.

Essy ammama was a very humble and prayerful woman. She is a true example of how to lead a faithful and obedient life in Christ. Our fond memories of Essy ammama was especially when she was our Sunday School teacher. She always encouraged us to sing songs, read the bible and pray. We remember how she translated all the Sunday School lessons and memory verses from Malayalam to English so that we could understand as we struggled with Malayalam during the initial days after relocation. Nothing was too much for ammama and she was always ready to go above and beyond to support us . She was very dedicated to whatever tasks she committed. She was also active during carols and all other church activities. We fondly remember how she would encourage us to go in front to sing with the choir , prompt from behind during action songs and motivate us to attend intra-church competitions.
ReplyDeleteWe will always remember Essy ammama as a strong, prayerful, fearless warrior in Christ.

ReplyDeleteWhen I came into this family, for obvious reasons I had my apprehensions on how I will be received and treated. She was one of the most welcoming and generous, and for that I will forever remember her fondly. I always was in awe of how she braved whatever life threw at her, and I am proud to have known her.

ReplyDeleteWe are deeply saddened by the news of Susan's demise. She was a beautiful soul, full of love and faith, who went through many painful events in life. She kept her faith and finished the race. Our memories go back to the 1980s when I was in Trvandrum, and used to attend the Nanthecode church. Sony (Susan's husband) wsa still a student, and a regular attendee at the church. We used to sit next to each other on the floor for the Sunday services (yes, on the floor on those days). Sony and Susan got married not long after after our wedding in 1984. We were part of each other's weddings. They are away from us now, but nearer to the Lord. They are gone from this earth, but not from our hearts. We miss both of them. May God comort and console C J Philip sir and all the dear ones in the family, church and all those who are grieving at this time. We will meet togther again on that beautiful shore one day.
During my childhood. I was always in awe of her. She was beautiful, with long thick hair, an angelic voice and the only woman I knew then who could drive. And I used to eagerly wait for her birthday gifts for me which were always some thing unique. She used to teach me a lot of songs. One song in particular which i remember she used to sing very often was ' Yeshu nallavan enikku yeshu nallavan' . That itself speaks volumes about her faith in Christ. She was just amazing. Will miss her lots.
ReplyDeleteEssy, you have inspired one and all by your steadfast faith and trust in our Lord. You are a true Christian warrior and have been a great and sincere friend and neighbour. Your soft voice, warm smile, zeal and committment to a Christian life will always be remembered. In spite of all life's challenges that have come your way, you managed to run the race with God as your anchor. I will truly miss you.
